Clinical Interest for Patients
Dr. Kim is an expert in structural heart disease interventions encompassing the full array of catheter-based valvular (e.g. transcatheter aortic valve replacement [TAVR], transcatheter mitral valve repair [MitraClip], balloon aortic and mitral valvuloplasty) and non-valvular (i.e., transcatheter closure of "holes in the heart" [PFO/ASD/VSD] and other defects such as paravalvular leaks and pseudoaneurysms, transcatheter occlusion of the left atrial appendage for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation) therapies. He is also an expert in advanced coronary interventions.

Care Philosophy
"My goal is to provide patients with comprehensive cardiovascular care and emphasize a strong patient-physician relationship, both in the acute setting and in the setting of clinic-based continuous care."

Personal Interests
Golfing, biking, skiing and spending time with his wife and family.

Information for Referring Providers

Clinical Interests for Referring Providers
Dr. Kim is an expert in the full array of structural heart disease interventions including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement, transcatheter MV repair (MitraClip), aortic and mitral valvuloplasty, percutaneous PFO/ASD/VSD/paravalvular leak closure, LAA occlusion, and transcatheter pseudoaneurysm repair. He is also an expert in advanced coronary interventions including percutaneous LV support devices.

Research Interest for Referring Providers
Dr. Kim is an investigator for the PARTNER II Trial, which is studying transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) with the Edwards Sapien XT Transcatheter Heart Valve, a minimally invasive option for patients with severe aortic stenosis. He is also an investigator for the COAPT Trial, which is studying the Mitraclip Mitral Valve Repair System for patients with functional mitral regurgitation. In addition, he is an investigator in several other clinical trials investigating a wide array of implantable devices (REDUCE for stroke prevention in patients with PFO, ACP for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation, etc.). Dr. Kim is also interested in the integration of advanced imaging modalities in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, investigation of new implantable cardiac devices, and novel approaches to medical education and training, specifically in the realm of structural heart disease interventions.
