I am interested in Qualitative and Quantitative Disorders of Neutrophils, Alloimmune and Autoimmune Disorders of Red Cells and Platelets, General Hematology and Transfusion Medicine. Additionally, I have focused on the establishment of a Cord Blood Bank and the Bonfils Cord Blood Services at Bonfils Blood Center, which provides Stem Cells for Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation.

Research Interest for Referring Providers
I am interested in the Respiratory Burst Activity and Bactericidal Activity of Neutrophils and Monocytes. Additionally, I focus on the Priming Mechanisms of Neutrophil Oxidase and the Development of Clinical Models of Excess Inflammation. I, also, concentrate on Blood Component Storage and Pathogen Reduction, as well as the Counting of Residual Leukocytes in Leukoreduced Blood Components. I collaborate with COBE BCT to develop new equipment and systems to separate platelets from whole blood. Additionally, I am interested in Alloimmunization in Response to Red Cell and Platelet Transfusions.
