Research Interest for Referring Providers
Dr. Caplan is the section chief for rheumatology at the Rocky Mountain Regional Veterans Affairs Medical Center (RMR VAMC) and a staff physician at the University of Colorado Hospital. Dr. Caplan engages in clinically-oriented epidemiologic and health service research within the field of pharmacoepidemiology and auto-immunity/rheumatology. Areas of interest include spondyloarthritis, retrospective analysis of databases, as well as construction and maintenance of patient registries. Dr. Caplan is co-Director of the Spondyloarthritis program at the University of Colorado and RMR VAMC, and has worked with the Program to Understand the Longterm Outcomes in SpondyloARthritis (PULSAR) registry, Veterans Affairs Rheumatoid Arthritis registry, and National Data Bank for Rheumatic Diseases (FORWARD), among others.
