Research Interests
I am a site PI for the Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS), which will test the effect of estrogen, when given within 3 years of menopause, on carotid artery thickness and coronary calcium scores, as well as cognition. I am a co-Investigator on the Study of Women's Health Across the Nation, a 7-center study of 3,000 women of 5 different ethnicities who have traversed the menopause. SWAN is examining a variety of outcomes and risk factors for health and disease in this representative cohort of US women. I am a PI of Project 2 in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine's U54 Specialzed Center for Research in Reproduction award. This project is directed towards the study of how obesity in women interferes with fertility and reproductive hormone production. I am PI of a K24 award, Establishment of Regular Ovulation in Normal Menarche, that is examining how girls develop regular menstrual cycles as they go through puberty and how this process may be adversely affected. I am also Chair of the Steering Committee of the NIH's Reproductive Medicine Network, a clinical trials network that performs cutting-edge research in infertility and reproduction. I have also had a longstanding research interest in premature ovarian failure.
