Clinical Interest for Patients
The practice of oncology is deeply personal. My father was diagnosed with cancer while I was in medical school, leaving me with an enduring sense of connection to oncology patients and a true passion for expert and personalized care. I balance genuine concern for my patient’s well-being with tenacious research into available treatment options. My primary clinical interest is Breast Cancer and Pancreatic Cancer.

Care Philosophy
I approach every patient as if they were a member of my own family, and I caveat that with the fact that I love my family with all of my heart. I want to make sure that I thoroughly research every aspect of the diagnosis and review the treatment options. I make sure to seek expertise and additional opinions when cases are particularly difficult, and when additional information is requested by the patient. My goal is to provide them with as much detail as possible so that they can ultimately make the most informed decision as to how we will proceed. First and foremost, I listen to my patients. I tailor my approach based on their wishes.

Personal Interests
Very active, love the outdoors. I like to golf, downhill snow ski, travel, plant flowers etc. (used to be jogger until I hurt my knees at the Bronco home opener in September 2007…prior to that I completed four marathons). Love to spend time with family and friends. I am a very passionate Denver Broncos fan, and Air Force Academy Falcons fan. I also support the Rockies, Nuggets and Avalanche (I take pride in NOT being a fair weather fan). Don’t watch much TV, but when I do it is usually sports

Volunteer Activities
I am dedicated to giving back to my community. I have worked with hospital foundations and volunteered at health fairs and conducted free cancer screenings. I volunteer time to Air Force Academy Cadets and their character and leadership development. I conduct interviews for high school students seeking nominations to the service academies (West Point, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy).

Public Speaking
I give talks in the community about cancer prevention, screening and treatment. I have been invited to speak at the National Character and Leadership Symposium at the Air Force Academy.

Information for Referring Providers

Clinical Interests for Referring Providers
While at Johns Hopkins, my research focus was in breast cancer, but I treat a wide variety of cancers. My training at Georgetown and Johns Hopkins was particularly valuable in helping me effectively care for patients with a many different diagnoses because I was able work closely with international experts in all fields of oncology but my primary focus is Breast cancer and Pancreatic cancer.

Research Interest for Referring Providers
My research interests are primarily focused on translational and clinical research. Bringing bench top research to the clinic has always been an interest of mine. I graduated from medical school with a distinction in research. My research mentor instilled upon me the importance of supporting basic scientists and applying the critical thinking necessary to translate their work to direct patient care.
