Information for Referring Providers

Clinical Interests for Referring Providers
I am a general cardiologist with expertise in cardiac imaging (echo, nuclear, and cardiac CTA).

Research Interest for Referring Providers
I am a cardiologist at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Eastern Colorado Health Care System, the National Director of the VA Clinical Assessment, Reporting, and Tracking (CART) program, and an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. The CART program is a national clinical quality program for all 79 cardiac catheterization laboratories in the national VA health care system. My research interests focus on “learning healthcare systems” that use real-time clinical data to inform high-value cardiology practice and research. I have authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, and received multiple grants exploring optimal strategies of prevention and cardiac risk reduction among patients with coronary artery disease. I also hold national leadership positions overseeing initiatives in promoting high-quality cardiac care in the VA, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association.
