Constraint Induced Aphasia Therapy (CIAT) clinic
The Constraint Induced Aphasia Therapy (CIAT) clinic in the Cognitive-Communication Disorders Service at the University of Colorado School of Medicine provides an evidence-based treatment for aphasia. CIAT is based on research demonstrating that intensive therapy reorganizes brain function and restores some important aspects of language ability. This specialized treatment approach may produce improved communication skills in persons who have lived with aphasia for several months or several years. Participants in the clinic receive a comprehensive evaluation and a treatment program consisting of three hours of treatment a day for ten days.
