Research interests for Patients:
Much of my research is focused on learning how we can identify individuals who are at risk of getting autoimmune disease before they are sick, and then prevent that disease from developing. In particular, I am the lead investigator on a trial in the USA called ‘StopRA’ where we identify people at-risk for future RA through a blood test, and then investigate whether treating them with a drug can delay or prevent future disease. Research Interest for Referring Providers
I am the principal investigator on an NIH-sponsored trial called 'StopRA' that is investigating the ability of the drug hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) to prevent or delay the future development of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in high-risk individuals. In addition, I have numerous other research studies investigating how lung disease may develop in patients with established RA, as well as how synovial biopsies may help identify new targets for RA treatment.
