Clinical Interest for Patients
I trained in Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology and Intensive Care, and have 30 years of experience as an attending physician. Over the last three decades I have developed an expertise in the management of medical and surgical (pre and post-operative) cardiac patients, from neonates to adults with congenital cardiac diseases. My main interest is to serve patients and their families and my community to the best of my capacities and thinking beyond the strictly medical aspects, as patient psycho-emotional support and quality of life is key.

Care Philosophy
I strive to promote quality, safety, effectiveness, interdisciplinary practices and optimal communication between patients, their families and our staff. Our care must be patient and family-centered and driven toward the best outcome possible.

Volunteer Activities
I have been involved in humanitarian work for more than three decades and I am currently the President and Chair of the Board of Surgeons of Hope, a United Nations-affiliated Non-Governmental Organization based in New York and in charge of developing programs of pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery in Latin America. My ultimate goal in the mid term is to implement and consolidate a Central American Network of Pediatric Cardiac Care.
