I want to help older adults and their families be able to express their preferences for future care with confidence and to navigate complex choices in the context of dementia and other serious illnesses.

My clinical work as a primary care geriatrician and palliative medicine physician informs my research to improve care for older adults with serious illness and their family caregivers. My research focuses on developing, testing and implementing models of care that improve advance care planning, dementia care, and caregiver support.
